Hi, I’m Yaz, the founder of Sandy Baby.
The idea for Sandy Baby was born on the beaches of Jervis Bay, a place my family and I absolutely love, but one that always came with the same frustrating problem. I was sick of putting a fresh, dry nappy back onto a sandy bum. No matter how many everyday wipes, towels or powders I tried, I just couldn’t get all the sand off. I’d go through wipe after wipe, only to feel like I was moving those gritty little particles around and repeatedly rubbing them across my daughters’ delicate skin.
And when I say sandy bums, I’m not just talking about the beach. Think daycare sandpits, playgrounds, parks, camping, holidays and everyday outdoor adventures. How many times has your child come home from daycare with sand still sitting in their nappy or around those little folds and creases? How long has it been there, and how many nappy changes have happened since sandpit play? That’s when I realised this was so much bigger than a beach day problem.
Then there are the sandy poos. If you know, you KNOW. When stubborn grains are mixed with a number two, it becomes a completely different clean-up. If your everyday wipe isn’t effectively lifting the sand, you naturally wipe again and again, moving those gritty little particles back and forth across some of your child’s most delicate skin.
That was the problem I wanted to solve. I wanted a wipe that could lift stubborn sand and mess away without the endless rubbing. Something that would glide instead of grip. But I also wanted more than effective cleaning. I wanted a wipe that could conquer the mess and moisturise the skin simultaneously. Why should we clean delicate skin, leave it feeling dry and then feel like we need to reach for another product afterwards? Why can’t we have both?
